Onam 2023 to you! Onam cultural event Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram district was opened by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday. This year’s 10-day event began on August 20 and will end on August 31.

“Onam is a unique festival that honors and promotes the values of inclusivity and togetherness, and the central theme of the event this year is Onam, the symphony of harmony,” Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas stated.

According to a report released by the news agency ANI, Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker A.N Shamseer also launched the ‘Ponnonam 2023’ Onam festivities in the district town square in Kerala’s Kannur.

The Kannur District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) hosted the ‘Ponnonam 2023’ event on Sunday in Kannur. A flash mob, aksharslokam, folk music, group dances, mega thiruvathira, and mohiniyattam were among the acts at the festival.

The 10-day Onam festivities, also known as Thiru-Onam or Thiruvonam, are celebrated with great fanfare throughout Kerala as people pay respect to legendary King Mahabali’s return, which is intertwined with a tapestry of legends and mythology.

The series begins with Atham and continues with Chodhi, Vishakam, Anizham, Thriketa, Moolam, Pooradam, and Uthradam, concluding on the 10th day, known as Thiruvonam. The last day, Thiruvonam, is the most auspicious since it symbolizes the completion of the Onam celebrations, and families prepare and eat Onasadya, the lavish Onam feast.
